Why Sidelong exists

Hi, I'm Christian.

I started Sidelong because of a gap I couldn't stop noticing in my own life. I was learning constantly. Books, podcasts, YouTube, newsletters, long threads I promised myself I'd come back to. Almost none of it survived the week. When I finally sat down to write, everything I'd collected was somewhere behind me, and I started from a blank page anyway.

That gap felt personal until I talked to other writers. It isn't. The people with the most to say are the ones taking in the most, and they lose the most of it.

Writing is about to matter more, not less

AI made fluent text cheap, and the internet is filling up with words nobody wrote. In that flood, the work that stands out is the kind only you could have produced: your reading, your experience, your taste, and your judgment, pointed at a subject you actually understand.

I believe that kind of writing is becoming the most valuable thing a person can publish. The tools should help you make more of it, not fake it.

What Sidelong believes

Sidelong never writes for you. It remembers what you've learned, hands it to you while you work, and researches what matters next. The sentences are yours. That line is the whole product, and it will not move.
